Overview

Leveraging the power of the AMD Alchemy™ Solutions Au processors and AMD Flash memory, the AMD Alchemy Solutions Driver Information Reference Design Kit (RDK) can help automotive design engineers bring to market new high-performance driver information and entertainment solutions that offer an improved driver experience by delivering the next generation of media-rich content and applications. Designed to promote the rapid development of innovative solutions, the AMD Alchemy Solutions Driver Information RDK includes all of the hardware and software needed to begin development.

The Driver Information RDK comes from our relentless focus on meeting the needs of our automotive design engineer partners. As a leading provider of technology that enables the development of next generation driver information and entertainment systems, AMD has created a small form-factor, low-power solution optimized to help lower overall system production costs and reduce time to market.

The AMD Alchemy Solutions Driver Information RDK has been optimized to help:


Speed up the development process

As a complete solution that includes both a hardware platform based on AMD Alchemy processors and AMD Flash memory and a complete software platform that supports WinCEfA, QNX, device drivers and low-level applications, the Driver Information RDK can help greatly speed up the development process.


Develop media-rich applications

By leveraging the power of the AMD next-generation Alchemy processors and high-density Flash memory, the Driver Information RDK helps enable the development of a variety of driver information and entertainment applications, including: turn-by-turn navigation, streaming media support (MPEG 1, 2 & 4), DVD playback, an integrated browser, and a rich graphical user interface. Through a variety of expansion slots, the Driver Information RDK is designed for future support of a complete auto sound system, Bluetooth and WWAN expansion (including GSM, GPRS, and WCDMA).


Improve design efficiency

The AMD processor-based hardware platform fits in a single DIN radio slot and is designed for low power consumption, enabling more efficient designs that lower overall system cost.
