Leading Microprocessor Manufacturer Adopts Protiming For Timing Optimized Design Flow

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. uses Prolific for Final Pass Optimization

NEWARK, Calif. -- July 1, 2004 --Prolific Inc., the leading provider of design optimization and automated standard cell creation software, today announced that AMD selected ProTiming™ software to optimize microprocessor designs. By integrating ProTiming into the implementation phase of the design flow, AMD designers can do final-pass optimizations for timing, power and signal integrity during sign-off.

鈥淧rolificIt's ProTiming has been a valuable addition to our final timing-closure design flow,"said Alistair Tomlinson, physical design and CAD manager, AMD Personal Connectivity Solutions Group. “The technology that optimizes cell sizes in the most critical paths without the need for a new cell library has certainly reduced the effort needed to reach final timing closure."

鈥淚t has enabled us to achieve better final timing results and in a timely manner,"added David Oliver, senior design engineer, AMD PCSG. “We are able to optimize our performance-power ratio, allowing us to deliver innovative, high-performance, low-power products that best address the needs of our customers.鈥?br>
“The integration with PrimeTime is key to ProTimingIt's rapid success,"said Dan Nenni, vice president of marketing at Prolific. “As a result, ProTiming is easy to install and use, introduces no risk, and provides immediate and verifiable results.鈥?br>
ProTimingIt's integration into PrimeTime provides an easy to use, no-risk solution for final-pass timing closure. The software starts optimization after other tools are finished, makes use of cells already existing in the library, and can result in up to a 20% improvement in performance and power without modifying RTL or adding complex cells to the design. ProTiming is in use by top semiconductor companies around the world.

About Prolific
Based in Silicon Valley, Prolific Inc. provides software to enable the design of today's most demanding integrated circuits optimizing quality of results with respect to timing, power, area and yield, and at the same time reducing overall design time and costs. ProTiming™ is the first commercially available optimization tool integrated into the STA step of the physical design flow. ProTiming gives IC designers up to 20% improvement in timing and power in a no-risk, fully automated and integrated flow. ProGenesis® is the leading software for automatically creating standard cells optimized for design performance, power, area and yield. Founded in 1995, Prolific counts the top semiconductor companies around the world as customers with products silicon-proven in .18m through 90nm process nodes. Prolific is headquartered in Newark, Calif., at 39899 Balentine Dr., Suite 380, Newark, CA 94560, telephone (510) 252-0490, fax (510) 252-0491. For more information, visit www.prolificinc.com.
