National SemiconductorIt's Geode Technology Powers Wyse TechnologyIt's Next-Generation Thin Client



Santa Clara, CA -- August 19, 2002 --National Semiconductor Corporation (NYSE: NSM) today announced that its industry-leading Geode™ technology has been designed into the powerful new Winterm™ 3125SE next-generation thin client from Wyse Technology. The Wyse Winterm 3125SE, powered by the single-chip Geode processor, delivers enhanced manageability, security and wireless capabilities. Thin-client technology or server-based computing is designed to provide easy IT maintenance, security and connectivity at a lower total cost of ownership (TCO) than PCs.

Wyse TechnologyIt's new Winterm 3125SE is powered by Microsoft Windows CE .NET and features WyseIt's custom optimization of the Windows CE .NET operating system as well as National SemiconductorIt's latest single-chip Geode processor. The Geode processor is integrated in a plastic package for optimal performance and power consumption at the most attractive price. WyseIt's new powerful thin-client device provides a 30 percent performance improvement over previous Windows CE models, extensive legacy connectivity, wireless networking and a sleek and small form factor.

National SemiconductorIt's single-chip Geode processor, housed in a thermally enhanced plastic ball grid array (PBGA) package or TEPBGA, includes a Geode GX1 32-bit x86 compatible processor module; a TV video processor (SC1200, SC1210), TFT (SC2200), and CRT (SC3200) outputs; memory controller; graphics controller; video input and output ports; core logic with support for PCI, USB and IDE devices; and a Super I/O block - all on a single low power, low cost device. It is by far the most cost effective, lowest power thin-client silicon solution that is available on the market today.
