Infoworld Readers Give The AMD Opteron™ Processor Top Marks In Annual Readers' Choice Awards
SUNNYVALE, CA -- August 6, 2003 --AMD today announced that InfoWorld readers chose the AMD Opteron™ processor as the Best Processor/Component of the year. The AMD Opteron processor, the first and only x86 technology-based 64-bit processor for servers and workstations, received 47 percent of the votes in the 2003 InfoWorld Readers' Choice Awards, while the Intel Itanium 2 processor received less than 17 percent and Intel Xeon received only 22 percent in the same category.
In addition to the top ranking for best processor/component, AMD ranked fourth in the Favorite Vendor category, behind Microsoft, Apple Computer and IBM.
