SUNNYVALE, CA -- July 19, 2004 --AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced it has presented its Pathfinder Award for Best Supplier to four companies: Matheson Tri-Gas, Inc.; Ibiden Co. Ltd.; Shin-Etsu MicroSi Inc.; and Japan Circuit Industrial Co. Ltd. At the same time, AMD presented World Class Supplier Achievement Awards to 19 companies for their unsurpassed service and performance excellence in 2003.
AMDIt's World Class Supplier Program measures and recognizes suppliers for outstanding performance and exceptional service with two levels of awards: the Pathfinder Award for Best Supplier within a defined procurement area (e.g., assembly materials, wafer fab materials, capital equipment, or indirect support); and the Achievement Award for exceptional performance in a Materials Commodity (e.g., silicon, lead frame, etc.).

Matheson Tri-Gas, a Parsippany, NJ-based manufacturer and distributor of electronic specialty gases, received a Pathfinder Award for its overall support and commitment to AMD. The company delivered superior service, excellent technical support, and proactive cost reductions in 2003. Matheson Tri-Gas also received a World Class Supplier Achievement Award in 2003 for performance in 2002.
Ibiden Co. Ltd. Japan, manufacturer of 鈥淥rganic Substrates鈥? received its Pathfinder Award for exceptional support for Organic Substrate technology development for next-generation microprocessors.
Shin-Etsu MicroSi, Inc. received a Pathfinder Award for exceptional technology support and commitment for developing Thermal Interface Materials for Microprocessors.
Japan Circuit Industrial Co. Ltd., received a Pathfinder Award for exceptional customer support and response in supporting SpansionIt's substrate needs. Spansion LLC, the worldIt's largest NOR Flash memory manufacturer, is a jointly owned subsidiary of AMD and Fujitsu.
