Q:Does AMD Turion 64 mobile technology use the same model number methodology as the Mobile AMD Athlon™ 64 and Mobile AMD Sempron™ processors?
A:No, a new alpha-numeric model number methodology has been adopted for the AMD Turion 64 mobile technology family of processors. The new model numbers have been designed to provide a simple designation of both relative processor performance and degree of mobility within the AMD Turion 64 family in order to help consumers and business professionals simplify their notebook PC purchase decisions

Q:How does the AMD Turion 64 mobile technology model number methodology indicate relative performance and mobility?
A:AMD Turion 64 mobile technology employs model numbers that consist of two letters followed by two numbers.
  • The two letters together indicate the processor class, with the second letter designating increasing degree of mobility as the letter approaches the end of the alphabet. For example, MZ would designate a greater degree of mobility, as measured by power consumption, than MA would designate. This is based on the general assumption that lower power consumption enables longer system battery life and, therefore, greater mobility.
  • The numbers indicate relative performance within the processor class, based on frequency, cache size and other factors that impact overall system performance. Higher numbers indicate higher relative performance among the AMD Turion 64 mobile technology family.

Q:Why have you introduced a new model number methodology with this product line?
A:AMD Turion 64 mobile technology is designed for those business professionals and consumers who value mobility as well as performance. In order to help these PC buyers simplify their purchase decisions, the new model numbers were developed to provide a simple designation of both relative processor performance and degree of mobility within the AMD Turion 64 mobile technology family.

Q:Which OEMs are offering notebooks based on AMD Turion 64 mobile technology?
A:Leading global OEMs are offering notebooks powered by AMD Turion 64 mobile technology, including Acer, Fujitsu, Fujitsu Siemens Computers, HP, NEC and Packard Bell, among others. Information about OEMs supporting all AMD mobile processors can be found at http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/ComputingSolutions/0,,30_288_3091_3100,00.html. This page will be updated as new systems become available
