| AMD Opteron Processors are identified by a
three digit model number, XYY, where: X—indicates
the maximum scalability of the processor. In other words:
100 Series = 1-way servers and workstations
200 Series = Up to 2-way servers and workstations
800 Series = Up to 8-way servers and workstations
YY—indicates relative performance
within the series. In other words, an AMD Opteron Processor Model
244 is higher performing than an AMD Opteron Processor Model 242, etc.
Special note on dual-core processors: Model numbers for the Dual-Core AMD Opteron processors will begin with 165, 265 and 865 and advance in increments of 5.
Low-power AMD Opteron Processors are identified by a two character modifier, where:
HE—indicates a 55W processor within the series.
EE—indicates a 30W processor within the series. The chart below further explains the differences
between AMD Opteron Processor series and model numbers.
